  • The firm has had a long presence in India and is very well known in the market. It announced a tie-up with the Indian firm ALMT Legal in June 2009. Recently, ALMT has split up but Clyde & Co still retains its relationship with some of the partners, who have re-formed as Clasis Law. In fact, the firm's senior Associate Sidanth Rajagopal, will be joining  Clasis Law a as a partner at the New Delhi office from July 1st.

Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

 

 In addition to transactional matters, we are also active in relation to disputes involving Indian parties; by way of example: Steven Lim of Clyde & Co's has been recently appointed as an arbitrator in two arbitrations involving Indian parties, one under the ICC Rules and the other under the SIAC.

 

 

Axis Bank

 

        Clyde & Co advised and represented Axis Bank Limited in connection with a number of India-related    matters including:

        a. a USD 12 million loan facility with a construction company in the UAE;

        b. a USD 20 million foreign currency loan facility with a company in the power industry in India;

      c.  a USD 150 million term loan facility with a company in the power industry in India; and

      d. a GBP 10 million working capital demand facility with a company in the technology industry in the United Kingdom.

 

Zulekha Hospitals

 Clyde & Co advised the Zulekha Hospitals Group on obtaining a USD 24 million convertible loan facility from the IFC (a member of the World Bank Group), and on a major restructuring of the Group's affairs in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent region. A full deal announcement can be viewed.
