  • Passionately committed to India, Clifford Chance's India practice received a lot of attention when it announced a tie-up with top Indian firm, AZB & Partners, in January 2009. Although previous India practice head, Chris Wyman, spent several months seconded to AZB's Mumbai office in late 2009 prior to retiring from the firm, the relationship was short-lived. In January an announcement was made that the agreement had ended.

     

    Clifford Chance's India practice is now headed by Geraint Hughes, managing partner of the firm's Singapore office

RECENT INDIA ACTIVITY:

Tata Power GDR

The firm represented the Bank of New York Mellon as the depositary bank when Tata Power issued US$33o million worth of Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs) in August 2009.
