  • The firm announced its non-exclusive tie-up with established firm Trilegal in 2008. The relationship was strengthened when A&O's Singapore based capital markets partner, Srinivas Parthasarathy, left to join Trilegal in August 2009. He will be responsible for building the Indian firm's domestic capital markets practice. 

RECENT INDIA ACTIVITY:

Advising landmark transaction for The State Bank India.

Advising The State Bank of India on its USD750m five-year bond, the biggest Reg S deal to come out of India and the first international issue by an Indian financial institution since 2007. This was a landmark transaction setting a new benchmark for Indian issuances

The State Bank of India on its USD4.1bn rights issue of equity shares. This transaction was one of the largest equity rights issues ever undertaken by an Indian entity and involved the coordination of advice on laws in numerous jurisdictions.

 
Advising Vedanta

 Advising Vedanta on the financing of its USD8bn acquisition of Cairn Energy’s Indian operations.

Advising Reliance Industries

Advising Reliance Industries on the on the on the sale to BP of a 30% stake in 23 production sharing contracts for USD7.2bn, exploration bonuses of up to USD1.8bn and the formation of a joint venture for the sourcing and marketing of gas and development of related infrastructure in India.
